Deanna Lee Oswald is of counsel at BFW. She is a strategic litigator with extensive experience in federal court at both the trial and appellate levels. Prior to joining BFW, she served as an Assistant Federal Defender in the Northern District of Alabama, where she represented defendants in serious and complex felony trials. During her ten years with that office, she served as a branch office supervisor and as Chief of the Appellate Division. She has argued appeals before the Courts of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the D.C. Circuit.
Early in her career, Ms. Oswald served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Ursula Ungaro and to the Honorable Judge Chris McAliley in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She also spent two years representing the State of Florida as a trial attorney for Children’s Legal Services.
